How Do I Write a Pith.

Blog's Classical Music Piece: Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto

The classical music piece for this blog is Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2. I think it fits well with the theme of the blog, which focuses on writing the pith of a story. This particular piece is renowned for its moments of substance and meaning which is in essence the pith of a story.

I have not written a narrative about my life in two years, and now I have to condense my life, dreams, and personality into a 650 word essay. It is getting pretty overwhelming. The last narrative essay I wrote was in 9th grade and I literally put almost zero thought into it. I wrote about a nothing burger that didn't affect me in any way. But because of this, writing these college essays is really annoying.

What I really am having trouble with is how to write a pith(bars). I wasn't even aware of this part of writing until the school year began and now every time I try to write or read an essay I'm seeking the pith. Im thinking now how do I distill the point i'm trying to make in my essay into a succinct package? How do I leave my reader with something to think about after he or she reads my essay? How do I make my essay sound like Rach 2 with a powerful realization statement?

Starting these essay drafts have been painful to a degree because I just cringe at the thought that a real human person is going to read this. Each word I write comes with a wave of anxiety of "is this okay?" or "am i cooked?". Hopefully By the end of this whole college essay season I can write an essay that I am somewhat proud of.
